Thank you for taking out an annual subscription to Moseley Pool and Park.
The park was founded in 1899 and has been enjoyed by the people of Moseley and the surrounding areas of Birmingham for over a hundred years.
Since 2006, the park has been run as a charitable trust, governed by a board of volunteer Trustees. The day-to-day work of running and caring for the park is carried out by a small team of part-time staff.
With no regular funding or financial support from the council, the contribution made by subscribers is invaluable to ensuring the preservation of the park for future generations.
Everyone is welcome to visit the park
The park is open for everyone to enjoy on most Wednesdays throughout the year between 10am and 4pm, as well as on one Saturday a month, usually the same day as the Moseley Farmers’ Market.
In addition, a number of local charities and other organisations have a complimentary key-fob to benefit their members.
Benefits of being a subscriber
Our subscribers can visit the park 365 days a year, using an electronic key-fob.
Subscriptions are open to all, irrespective of postcode, with a charge of £75 in the first year and £65 in subsequent years. Some local residents, with direct access to the park through their gardens, pay slightly more.
The Board of Trustees reserve the right to increase these charges from time to time.
We welcome the views of our subscribers and aim to hold an annual meeting to discuss our plans for the future and to answer any questions.
Park opening hours
The gate can be opened with your key-fob during park opening hours, which change depending on the season.
The hours are publicised on the park’s website and notice boards.
Use of the park key-fob
A key-fob allows members of your household and their accompanied guests to visit the park during its opening hours.
Subscribers will be held responsible for any breach of the park’s rules by their household or guests.
Key-fobs are for the exclusive use of your household. We reserve the right to suspend the key-fob of anyone found passing it to others.
Subscribers are requested to close the gate behind them as they enter or leave the park, to prevent entry by non-subscribers.
Trustees reserve the right to withdraw access to the park from subscribers, at their discretion, by exception, for example to protect other park users.
We welcome families to enjoy the park together. Children under 11 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Responsibility for children remains with the accompanying adult at all times.
The park does not accept any responsibility for the supervision, safety or care of unaccompanied children.
Facilities in the park
There are accessible toilets located in the old red brick building, found as you enter the park through the main gate, on the right-hand side of the main path.
If you see someone having a suspected cardiac emergency, there is a defibrillator located on the corner of the tennis club pavilion, on the right-hand side of the main pedestrian path, as you walk down from the Alcester Road gate.
Instructions on its use are given at its location.
Please note that whilst staff regularly work in the park, it is not staffed during opening hours as a matter of course.
If you have concerns about your own health, or that of another park user, during your visit, please use a mobile phone to dial 111 or 999 to request assistance, depending on whether the incident is life-threatening.
There is CCTV located around the park, which is reviewed as required.
Games and exercise
We aim to make sure that the park is a safe place for all our visitors.
Large groups playing organised games, for example football, cricket and rounders, are not allowed.
We want to ensure children can play and ask those accompanying children to be considerate to other park users.
Cycling and the use of skateboards and scooters is not permitted. Runners are requested to respect other park users.
Dogs
Visitors are welcome to bring their dogs into the park and are requested to follow some basic rules.
- Owners must accept full responsibility for their dogs and pick up all waste, either taking it away or using one of the bins provided.
- Dogs must be kept under control at all times, including when off the lead.
- Dogs must be prevented from upsetting other dogs, park users and the wildlife in the park.
- Dogs are not allowed in the pool.
Consideration for other park users
All park users are expected to show courtesy and consideration to other visitors, our staff and any contractors working in the park.
The following are not permitted and may result in action being taken against the park user involved:
- Littering or dumping of garden or other waste.
- Damaging park property.
- Drunken, anti-social, disorderly or aggressive behaviour.
- The use of illegal drugs.
- Lighting fires or using any type of firepit or barbecue.
- Cycling, skateboarding or using scooters.
- Organised team games, for example football, cricket, rounders or volleyball.
- Using the lake for swimming, paddleboarding, boating or ice-skating.

Hours of opening and supervision
Entry to the park is only permitted during the opening times displayed on the website and on the noticeboards near each park entrance.
Opening times are adjusted in line with the seasons.
We may close the park in the event of weather warnings to ensure the safety of our visitors.
From time to time, access to all or part of the park may be restricted to allow an authorised event to take place.
The trustees and staff have authority for the running of the park. Park users are requested to follow any instructions given, whether written or oral, for example to vacate the park in the case of bad weather.
Fishing, tennis and yoga
Fishing in the pool is restricted to members of the Angling Club. Use of the tennis courts is only for members of the tennis club.
Both clubs welcome new members.
Members of the Angling Club and tennis club must also be subscribers to the park.
Visitors to I am Yogi are not required to be park subscribers, but do not have access to the park either before or after classes, other than on park open days.

Complaints
If anyone is found to be in breach of the rules or there is a complaint about a visitor to the park, the matter will be reviewed by the Board of Trustees.
The Trustees reserve the right to exclude the visitor or subscriber in question and will notify the person concerned.
The Trustees will involve the police if required.
Any breach of the law, or these guidelines, by subscribers or other visitors to the park, may result in them being temporarily or permanently excluded from the park.
The Trustees’ decision will be final.
